We recently supplied an AS2304 compliant L-shaped Fire Water Tank to a mixed-use building in Moonee Ponds. The effective water capacity was 50,000 litres with a divider wall in between.
Problem:
The architect had not allocated sufficient space for the regular square tank in the building drawings.
The building contractor wanted to relocate the tank to make way for a couple of additional car park spaces. There were also many pillars in the basement of the building which was an obstruction.
So Allflo was approached by the builder to provide a suitable solution and still be compliant with the relevant standards.
Solution:
A special L-shaped fire water tank was designed as shown in the photos. The tank was specially designed to wrap around the pillars and still have necessary clearance on all sides. After a couple of meetings and technical discussions, the consultant approved the design.
The job had to be completed within 7 weeks, including the lost time awaiting design approval. However, everyone worked as a team and we were able to handover the job within the deadline and meet all the project requirements.
Key benefits of the square (or custom shaped) tanks:
- Customized tank shape to suit site requirement
- Can be built around pillars in a building basement
- 10 Years Warranty
- 25 Years design life
- Designed & manufactured in Australia
- Strong & Safe, No leaks
- Aesthetically Pleasing
- Galvanized or Stainless-Steel options available
- Experience / Proven design
- Easy install
